The number 44 has great significance for the Syracuse University community. It was the number worn by some of the greatest athletes in university history, including the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961. The Legend of 44 grew beyond athletics and is now part of the university, where all the phone numbers begin with 44 and the campus zip code ends in 44.
The New Bosses/New Voices Initiative believes in the power of Media Entrepreneurship as a force multiplier for social change. Media shapes culture and popular opinion, and informs our democracy. There is no true democracy without diverse media voices and a free and open press.
Center for digital media entrepreneurship
The Center offers courses, coaching and connections and encourages students to launch media ventures of all types: in journalism and information services, in entertainment of all types (TV/video, film, music, sports, events, gaming, audio/radio) and in strategic communications, such as public relations, advertising and brand positioning.
As media shapes culture, media ownership shapes media.
